Q: I have a Sony HDR-FX7 camera. Is it compatible with the DAC-9?
A: No, unfortunately, the DAC-9 is not compatible with the Sony HDR-FX7 camera. However, the DAC-9 is compatible with other Sony cameras. The Sony HVR-V1 and the Sony HVR-HD1000U have been tested and are compatible with the DAC-9.
Q: Can a DAC-9 accept a DVI signal from a computer using a DVI to HDMI cable?
A: No, the DAC-9 cannot accept a DVI signal from a computer.

Which cameras are compatible with the DAC-9? I have two cameras I have attempted to use and neither seem to function with the DAC-9. I have tried to use a Canon Vixia HFS10 and a Panasonic HDC-TM300
Connecting both using HDMI and cannot get a signal through the DAC-9.
Hi Mark,
We looked up the specs on the Canon Vixia HFS10 and its default output resolution is 1080p. Our DAC-9 converter does not support a 1080p signal. It supports 1080 at interlace signal only. Please change the output resolution of your Canon Vixia HFS10 to 1080i and try it again.
Thanks!
I’m looking to power the dac-9 with a battery pack. i was wondering to you have one you recomend? if not would this work(http://www.elementalled.com/rechargeable-li-ion-battery-pack.html)? i would also need to know what size the dc connector is. thanks
We’ve used our DAC-9 heavily almost every day for a year with the Panasonic HDC-TM700 and the HDC HS250. We have three of each and we dub the footage using the DAC-9 to XDCAM disc. It just stopped working. I quickly bought another one because we so rely on it, it worked once and it too stopped working. I just read a FAQ above where you said that this box doesn’t work with 1080P. But our three HDC-700s record only in 1080P, and the DAC box has worked perfectly until now. Any idea why it worked so well with 1080P before, but won’t now? And any suggestions we should replace it with? tx
Hi Thomas,
It must be the settings on the camera that were changed that caused the DAC-9 to stop working. Our DAC-9 does not support a 1080p signal.
We looked at the specs on the HDC-700s. There are a few recording modes. You can either record in 1080/60p or 1080/60i. Here are the specs from the HDC-700 manual –
There is a recording setting on the camera that you can change from 1080/60p to 1080/60i. Press and Hold the “1080/60p” button until “1080/60p” disappears from the screen.
Please try it and let us know if it fixes the issue.
Thanks!
Can i use DAC-9P to convert HDMI output from a PC to SDI ?
Hi Kenneth,
You should be able to use our DAC-9P to convert the HDMI output from a PC to SDI as long as HDMI signal from your PC conforms to the standard video signals and not outputting a computer resolution.
Thanks!
