Q: Does the the LD-1 light ring fit onto my camcorder?
A: The Datavideo CKL-200 is supplied with a 72 mm adaptor for attaching the LD-1 light ring onto a video camera for Chroma Key purpose. This 72 mm is often used at (semi-) professional Canon and Sony Camera’s. At customers’ request a 82 mm version is available as well. 82 mm is often used at (semi-) professional JVC and Panasonic camcorders. In your camera’s manual this 72 or 82 mm is often called “filter diameter”.
Q: But what if my camcorder has a smaller filter diameter than 72 mm?
A: To find the exact size, please check the manual of your camcorder or check the lens.If your filter diameter is 58 mm, a 58mm to 72 mm step ring is also available – part number G09220428031.

Q: But what if my filter-diameter is even less than 58mm?
A: Nowadays many ultra compact camcorders have filter diameter of 37 mm. To make this 37 mm fit onto the 72 mm adapter, multiple step rings must be used (there are no 37mm to 72 mm step rings available). Based on a normal range of rings you require are a 37mm to 52mm*, a 52mm to 58mm* and a 58 to 72 mm stepring. NOTE: using multiple step rings increases the risk of vignetting at full wide angle mode! On some camcorders, like the Canon GL-2 or some Sony models, the microphone is to close to the front side of the lens, which makes it impossible to attach the LD-1 light ring. A special extended adapter, like the datavideo G09220428051, is required. * = Datavideo does not offer these step rings. They can be bought locally at your video dealer. Popular brand names for all kind of step rings are HAMA and B&W. Any other brand will do as well of course.

Q: Does the DVK-100 support High Def?
A: The datavideo DVK-100 Live Chroma key box does not support High Def sources, but if you connect the Cvbs out of your HD camera (often available for monitoring purpose) to the DVK-100 and connect a DVD or laptop with Cvbs out as virtual background source, you can immediately see/ monitor if the result will be as you want it to be after you have the done CK in your NLE suite.

Q: How do I find out what size my camera’s lens is?
A: Look on the front edge or outer edge of your camera’s lens for a number following a symbol that looks like a circle with a line through it. This is your lens’ filter diameter. Please note if you see a pair of numbers followed by “mm” (i.e. 25-75mm), this is NOT the lens’ diameter. See the image to the right for examples.

Q: My camera’s lens diameter is not 58mm, 72mm nor 82mm. Can I still attach the CKL-100 to my camera?
A: Yes, you will need to purchase a “step-down” or “adapter” ring that will attach either of our included adapters to your camera’s lens. For example, if your camera has a 52mm lens, you could buy a 52mm-to-58mm or 52mm-to-82mm adapter ring, etc. Most photo and video stores carry adapter rings in a wide range of sizes and are very affordable.

Q: What is the largest lens diameter that the CKL will accommodate?
A: 82mm is the largest.

dear sir,
we mainly use the red camera HD 720 and our lenses are from 18mm till 300mm
does the CLK 300 chroma kit will work with our camera if not, can u provide me with any other solution if it is possible.
regards
wael khoury
Hi Wael,
Our CKL-300 kit comes with adapter rings for 82mm, 72mm, and 58mm. If your lens don’t fit any of these sizes, you’ll have to get a step up/down ring, which you can purchase at any camera store.
Thanks!
