SE-500 Video Switcher Kit |
The SE-500 is a small, analog four input switcher with a quad split preview output. It includes red, yellow, and green tally markers to indicate the program, preview and other sources as well as the next selected effect. And there is a button that will cause the preview display to show the next selected effect.
The SE-500 Kit comes with a TLM-702 dual-monitor bank and a monitor holder that places the TLM-702 right above the switcher. It is also available as a Hand-carried Studio (HS-500), perfect for mobile purposes.
Q: Does the "Quad Display" show all sources in real time or at a low frame rate?
A: Yes, the Quad Display is real time, as well as Preview. All of the SE-500 video outputs are compliant with the NTSC and/or PAL video standards.
Q: What are the sizes of the Picture-in-Picture windows?
A: The small PIP window has a width of 243 pixels and a height of 162 pixels. The large PIP window has a width of 288 pixels and a height of 194 pixels.
Q: Does the SE-500 have a "take" or "auto take" button?
A: No, all SE-500 transitions are activated with the T-bar. If your application requires a take button, please take a look at our SE-800AV.
Q: Is the SE-500 a dual standard unit which will work in NTSC or PAL Video formats?
A: No, the SE-500 is available in either NTSC or PAL only.
Q: Can I connect the DB-15 tally outputs from the SE-500 to the ITC-100 to send tally to my intercom packs?
A: Yes, the ITC-100 will accept the tally signal directly from the SE-500.
Q: The buttons on my SE-500 are locked up. How can I fix this?
A: Make sure that the correct power adapter is connected to your SE-500 (12V 1.5A). Unplug the power from your SE-500 and plug it back in after a few seconds to see if the issue clears. If not, please contact technical support here.
Q: Why is the output from my SE-500 in black and white?
A: This can sometimes be caused by a defective S-video or composite cable. If the video input preview is in color, check the output cables from your SE-500 by replacing it with another cable.
Q: I want to make my own tally lights for the SE-500. What are the specifications?
The power can be DC 5V to 24V DC. The line current limitation is MAXIMUM 15mA. The resistor value affects the LED's brightness, the larger the value (resistance), the lower the brightness.
Q: Can I use the Datavideo ITC-100 Intercom with the SE-500?
A: Yes, the ITC-100 Intercom can be used with the SE-500. The tally output from the SE-500 can be connected to the ITC-100 to activate the tally lights on the ITC belt packs.
Q: How much noise does the SE-500 generate?
A: None! The SE-500 is a solid state unit with minimal heat generation, so internal fans are not needed to keep the unit cool and the buttons are made of sound absorbing rubber.
Q: Which Datavideo Character Generator is recommended for the SE-500?
A: We recommend the CG-100D SP Character Generator. (Component or Composite Video).
Q: Can the SE-500 be controlled remotely?
A: Yes, the SE-500 Switcher can be controlled via RS-232 or MIDI. The command protocol can be on the SE-500 page. Datavideo also has an Ethernet-based remote controller (RMC-150) for the SE-500.

A: Yes, both S-Video and Composite inputs will be displayed on the quad preview output.
Q: Can I connect a larger monitor to my SE-500 to view the quad preview?
